Welcome To CHERRY BLOSSOM MUSICAL ARTS!
Cherry Blossom Musical Arts is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization located in Eugene Oregon. We are here on this planet to promote the creation and performance of NEW MUSIC, ART MUSIC, CONTEMPORARY CLASSICAL MUSIC, ALT-CLASSICAL MUSIC--- whatever you wish to call it!
We believe that the music sometimes called "classical" is alive and thriving NOW in the 21st century and we believe it will thrive far into the future, as long as composers keep writing, musicians keep playing, and people keep listening!
So our mission is to give composers the chance to have their pieces performed, to give musicians the chance to play those pieces, and to give audiences a chance to hear them.
IN ADDITION, we believe that the cross-fertilization of artistic disciplines makes for GREAT ART. So whenever possible, Cherry Blossom Musical Arts is dedicated to creating shows that include artistic collaboration, especially between music and dance.
Now, in 2012 we are teaming up with the "Alt-Classical" music scene in Portland. Portland is a vibrant place for new music, and the time is right for Cherry Blossom to head north to participate in Portland's new music festival, March Music Moderne! New music concerts by all sorts of groups from small organizations like Cherry Blossom all the way up to the Oregon Symphony will be taking place throughout the city during the entire month of, you guessed it...March. Cherry Blossom's March Music Moderne concert emphasizes our love of cross-pollination. The concert will take place at Bodyvox Dance Theater in Portland's Pearl District, and features performances from Bodyvox 2 and Portland Festival Ballet. The concert is titled:
